What's It Really Like in El Paso?

WE have family visiting and have been busy being tour guides.  For this reason, I continue with abbreviated posts.  However, here is a link to an excellent article in the extremely reliable and wonderful Texas Observer on the actual conditions on La Frontera.  Incidentally, a number of years ago, Carlos Guerra, a columnist at the San Antonio Express News (San Antonio is about 145 miles from the border,depending on where you are heading) headed down to Nuevo Laredo to defuse another epidemic of anti-Mexico hysteria provoked by the thrill-seeking press).  Seems to me that real information is just not considered very important in the national news these days.
