Plan Mérida and Mexico's Drug War and US Policy

Patrick Leahy has blocked approval of Plan Merida funding this summer by refusing to certify Mexico's human rights record.  Hurray!  The drug war is not doing much good and it promises to grow into another endless and dangerous swamp like Iraq, Afghanistan and Colombia.  Obama's administration is failing miserably to come to any understanding of Mexico, US relations with Mexico, and the role of drugs, laundered money and human trafficking.  Most of Mexico is not yet enveloped in the drug war disaster, but it seems it will only ooze into more areas the longer the "war" continues.  Here is a very good analysis of the present situation with a post following pointing out that Felipe Calderón is NOT Mexico.  Obama wake up!!!! This isn't a joke.  And all of you write or email Patrick Leahy that you support his move.
